Our summer French courses cater specifically to non-beginner children aged between 6 and 11, who already possess some knowledge of French. Tailored for students enrolled in French, international, immersion, or bilingual programs, these courses offer a unique opportunity for skill enhancement and preparation for the upcoming school year. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the French Riviera, children engage in enjoyable language-focused activities that contribute to the development of their communicative, reading, listening, and writing skills.

Our program is designed to provide a linguistic boost for the rentrée (back to school) period. Children not only have a great time, make new friends, and enjoy their linguistic holidays but also gain a significant advantage by advancing their French language proficiency. Join us for a summer of fun, learning, and preparation, ensuring a positive head start for the academic year ahead.

Course description

Class activities are adapted to ages and abilities. Our study program is progressive, varied and consists of cross-curriculum learning activities.
These are morning courses from 9am to 12:15pm.

Small
groups

Children are placed in groups of maximum 10 students. Small class size ensures that each child receives maximum individual attention. Students learn according to their age and level.

Learning
activities

French courses for non-beginner children are designed to develop language proficiency through the use of the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and experience French culture, through various engaging, playful and active learning activities.

Academic
sessions

Vocabulary, grammar, sentence construction, reading, writing, storytelling, poems, board games, songs, etc.

Playful
sessions

Role-plays, mimes and TPR*, songs, drama, linguistic board games, popular and lively games, crafts, team project and more.

Total Physical Response* pairs vocabulary and physical movements/gestures. This method helps memorizing new words and building sentences. Children love being on the move and love this method!

Optional afternoon lessons

1:1 Lessons
We offer one-to-one lessons, where students can benefit from private tutoring. During these courses, we focus on your child’s individual requirements, which can include exam preparation, conversation or any area of the language. More info

Intensive French courses
Our intensive French classes are small group designed to help students develop their written and spoken communicative skills. Students will receive 10 hours of intensive courses each week with a class size of maximum of 6 students. More info

Courses Schedule

Morning courses – 20 lessons/week : from 9 am to 12.15 pm
Intensive courses – 30 lessons/week : from 1.15 pm to 2.45 pm
Afternoon courses – 10 lessons/week : from 1.15 pm to 2.45 pm

Study material

Teachers provide students with learning material. The student must provide a notebook and a pen.

First day & last day of the language course

First day:
Children have an informal testing session allowing us to place students in an appropriate group.

Last day:
Children will receive a certificate, attesting their participation in the French summer courses, the number of hours and your level. Children and teenagers have a performance (songs, drama, poetry, dialogue, etc.) to show what they have learned.

Each Friday, parents are invited to a performance presented by children and their teacher.

We had a delightful time in Cannes mixing family vacation with French language lessons for our children. The school was very easy to access from our vacation apartment rental in downtown Cannes and the proximity to the local provençal market and shopping was excellent. Although Covid restrictions were relaxed in France 2022 the school was closed but they matched us with two of their tutors for "one-on-one" sessions in Cannes; one tutor was working with me and the other with the kids (age 14 and 16). Tutoring was excellent and both tutors were highly adaptive to meet our respective needs. Being on-site in Cannes also allowed us to make detours in the city to interact in everyday situations which further enriched our experience. We've previously attended French courses both online and onsite (in Paris) but the tutors at "Passeport pour les langues - French Summer Classes" stand apart for their professionalism, highly recommended!

Due to the COVID-19 situation, our son couldn't travel to Cannes to join the French summer classes. Instruction is done via skype (France-USA). The teacher is very flexible, funny, follows the school teacher's instructions and suggestions; there is an excellent and interesting conversation on-going about current events. Despite being the only student with the teacher, our son is enjoying the classes. I hope to send him in person next year! Thank you very much to the administration and the teacher.
